In May 2019 we are asking you all to join or support the flotilla for justice that will be launched out of Cairns.
We will be taking to the seas to sail for justice and our destination will be Manus Island.
All refugees on Manus Island and Nauru are political prisoners. Our Government and private corporations are committing gross violations of human rights, so we are sailing to bring the world's attention to our Government's torture and abuse of refugees.
We are sailing for human rights, indigenous sovereignty, and climate justice.
The Freedom flotilla will be traveling with the Kangaroo skin engraved with an important message from Arubunna Elder Kevin Buzzacott. The engraving, depicting people of all colours gathered around the sacred fire, will be accompanied by ashes from the tent embassy and water from Uncle Kevin's traditional country surrounding Lake Eyre.
These gifts are to be presented by First Nations and West Papuan flotilla participants upon our arrival at Manus. The ceremony will include the gifting to the men on Manus of original nation passports sent from Uncle Kevin as well as a fire, dance and song performed as an act of resistance to overcome the walls of racism and the politics of greed that keep us divided.
Uncle Kevin Buzzacott (Arubunna Elder)
The time has come for people of all colours to sit around the same fire and start the healing process for peace and justice, in the fire light we can see each others humanity and move together towards peace. One people one soul.
The Australian Government has no right to be saying who can and can’t come into our land. They have no jurisdiction.
We want to offer this mob on Manus Original Nation passports. We are the real authority for this country. The Government got no right to be locking people up, torturing and killing them, whether its our mob, our brothers and sisters in West Papua or the mobs fleeing war, coming here just looking for safety. It’s our land we should be allowed to welcome them and look after country, protect it from mining companies logging and waste dumps.
I’m talking to all you mob here and across the pacific. Don’t turn ur back on the land and people. Time for this next generation to stand up, come together and #Sail4Justice #Sail4FNSovereignty #DestinationManus - Uncle Kevin Buzzacott (Arubunna Elder)
Izzy Brown (from legendary Australian band Combat Wombat) is taking part in the #Sail4Justice flotilla.
Izzy sailed on the West Papua Freedom flotilla and has been campaigning for environmental and social justice for many years.
This video is a retrospective of Australia's immigration policies and demonstrates why it is time for the community to intervene and take to the seas. We sail for West Papua's freedom. We sail for First Nations Sovereignty. We sail for refugees. We sail for climate justice. We sail for human rights. We sail for justice
My name is Amos Wainggai. I came to Australia with my Melanesian outrigger canoe, and along with 42 asylum seekers from West Papua in a quest to escape injustices, while seeking justice from the Australian government, whose geopolitical and geostrategic interest continues to protect the wealth of my land rather than defending the rights of my people.
My homeland and my people continues to suffer under the Indonesian brutal and illegal occupation for over 50 years. The indigenous Papuans have been a colonial subject of Indonesia with deprivation, rape, torture, murder and suppression of innocent lives everyday.
In 2013, as part of the land and sea ahoy with freedom flotilla crew, our journey from Lake Eyre to West Papua, demonstrated our sovereign rights and right to self-determination as indigenous people from both the government of Australia and Indonesia.
The freedom flotilla highlighted the voices of Papuans refugees who fled across to PNG in the 1970s, 80s and continues whenever there is Indonesia's military crackdown on peaceful activists. Let alone in 2013, at least 13 Papuans student activists seek protection in PNG. For many Papuan refugees in various parts along the arbitrary border, PNG is a safe haven. Manus Island in particular is one of the first refugee settlement site that Australia use in detaining two young promising Papuan leaders in 1969, the late Clemens Runaweri and Willem Zongonau, who were tipped-off to PNG officials to abort both a plan to board a plane to New York in notifying the UN about the fraud process of the so called 'musyawarah', a hand selected illegal process of forcing Papuans to be part of Indonesia.
Today, I am more than ready to sail for justice as an act of solidarity for my people and those who seek political asylum in Australia and are now detained on Manus Island and Nauru. #Sail4Justice #Sail4WestPapua #DestinationManus
Free the Refugees, Free West Papua,
The crew from the previous Freedom Flotilla to West Papua have decided to take action once again and join #Sail4Justice. "We cannot stand by as injustice festers. Free the refugees. Free West Papua".
Bring Your Boat and Join #Sail4Justice
All vessels on the flotilla are autonomous.
The crew of each vessel will decide how far they are willing to go and what actions they partake in.
People on each boat are responsible for the maintenance and travel cost of there own vessel.
We encourage crews to do there own fundraising campaign for the #Sail4Justice journey. This will help create a following for your vessels journey.
We encourage any crew members to have access to their own personal funds for their personal medical and emergency travel needs.
We also encourage each boat to have its own mission statement about why they are join the flotilla and profile on the web site and social media.
We are hoping to crowd source funds to be available for the project to help with communications, security, media, and emergencies.
Freedom, autonomy and responsibility.
We will travel with a message across land and sea, for freedom and justice across the Pacific. We invite you to get involved, join us on a freedom flotilla from Melbourne, up the east coast to Cairns, where we will launch the Flotilla bound for Manus Island.
The land and Sea convoys will converge in Cairns by the beginning of May 2019. From there we will prepare and launch with a massive local send off! When there is no justice, there is just us.
